Aging in Place
“OUR GOAL AT FAMILY FIRST IS TO ENSURE YOUR INDEPENDENCE IN YOUR OWN HOME, AND WE ARE GOING TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO THRIVE.”
Statistics will show that aging at home can be even safer than aging in a care facility. In the past, options such as long-term care facilities and assisted living sounded much safer, but as we have seen with situations such as COVID-19, there are numerous benefits in aging at home. Your home is cost-effective and is a familiar space, which is helpful when experiencing dementia-related cognitive issues.
People who are aging in their homes usually have a network of connections based around their residence. If their neighbors notice they have not left their home or completed their usual chores, they are more likely to notice and make a phone call or a visit, so it’s beneficial to have an established connection in a neighborhood setting.
The main difference between aging at home and aging at a care facility is that in the home setting there is a one-on-one experience. Our clients will have a close relationship with their caregiver and our team will assess their home environment to ensure everything is clean, sound, and safe. We will also evaluate any need for durable medical equipment such as shower chairs and walkers.
Another benefit of home care is assistance with activities of daily living (ADL). These are the types of tasks that make someone independent and able to live on their own and live independently in society. It only takes being deficient in one activity of daily living to create a non-independent situation. In those situations, our caregivers can come in and assist with that one specific activity to allow an individual to remain independent within their home while enhancing their experience.
Our goal at Family First is to ensure your independence in your own home, and we are going to make sure you have everything you need to thrive. You can count on us for assistance with ADL’s, environment safety modifications, and most importantly, quality companionship. We encourage every family to consider at-home care to provide assistance for their loved ones.
